Local by design
Your darkroom stays on your Mac
Core image processing and the Film Buddy library are local. Film Buddy does not receive those files unless you deliberately send material for support. Optional tethering may communicate directly with a supported camera over USB or local IP, so this is not a promise of zero network activity.

Release status
Beta publication facts complete
App legal version 1.0 is effective July 9, 2026, and the Website Terms are effective July 10, 2026. Film Buddy controls the operational filmbuddyapp.com domain and distributes the invitation-only beta directly through it using Developer ID, not through the Mac App Store. The beta is free and offered only in the United States, with no paid checkout or EU/UK targeting. Release source packages, checksums, and the candidate software bill of materials are published on the Licenses page.
